Following objections to a proposed LED advertisement planning application outside of Bristol Temple Meads train station which is a grade II listed building, Orion produced an assessment of the effect that the proposed advert would have on the setting & significance of the station.  The assessment set out that the listed buildings around the station (the Grade I listed British Empire and Common Wealth Museum’ (i.e. Brunel’s original Bristol Temple Meads Station), the grade I listed Bristol Temple Meads Station and the grade II* listed Bristol and Exeter Building) are experienced as a group associated with railway travel. The assessment concluded that whilst the new digital display screen would be visible within the setting, it would not detract from the significance of these buildings. The conclusions of the report were accepted by the LPA but the application was refused on highway safety grounds.
