A - Z Projects

Orion Heritage provided early project stage advice to the educational trust and their planning consultant, Barton Wilmore Planning Partnership, regarding the archaeological and built heritage issues connected with the Trust's proposals to build a Viking longhouse. The purpose of the longhouse is to inspire disadvantaged children to have a passion for history and will act as a learning facility, allowing children to explore the history of Vikings in a recreated environment.

The proposed longhouse is in an area of archaeological potential and within the setting of Ufton Nervet which is a grade I listed Tudor manor house. Orion Heritage undertook a heritage assessment to support the planning application which concluded that the proposed Viking longhouse would not affect the significance of the manor house. This conclusion was accepted by the LPA who have granted planning permission.
